Hi,

It's been slow lately so I thought I would share a project I am working on with a buddy. It's a 1982 Yamaha XJ650 cafe racer that we are turning into a better cafe. It' started out as an orange POS. We are hoping to turn it into a blue POS.

So far we have:
rebuilt the forks with progressive rate springs
changed the pegs
upgraded rear suspension
added clip-ons
new headlight
rebuilt brakes
new cables
painted the tank
new controls

To be done:
clean/tune carbs
remount choke cable
new seat pan
signals
make seat
and tons more that I can't think of at the moment.

This is what I'm dealing with:

I'm really excited about how well the rattle can paint job turned out!

that came out great ! good work - the spray cans these days do decent work - go slow and let dry between coats pretty well.

Here's a rattle can paintjob i did on the 175 yamaha 2 stroke i have ...
i wish i would have slid the template over and sprayed the second color to create a better carbon fiber look though ... it's allright just a dirtbike

in case you're not aware of it - most auto paint supply stores can mix any color into a spray can AND have the ability to make the spray cans spray a catalyzed paint as well . the hardner is attached to the botom of the spray can and you punch the pin on the bottom and it releases the hardner into the spray can - mix up and you have Urethane catalyzed top quality paint... good to have catalyzed clear coat.

I think i'm going to put the " Running Man Isle of Man " logo on the top of this tank about the size of a silver dollar or so
cheers

John - That tank looks sweet! Good for you for attempting such an detailed paint job! It looks great.

weeksy - I like the light and think it will look pretty cool once everything is buttoned up.

Paul - The primer and color had nozzles that were really easy on the finger, but the clear had a traditional one that had my finger hurting after less than one coat and I used something similar to what you posted. They really are great to use!
