As Indy pointed out, i'm sure there were give away signs that something was very, very wrong long before this happened.

surely if there was enough friction to create that sort of heat then the bike must have been WAY under powered. its only a klr, he had to have noticed something...

I've seen this before, some people just keeeeeeep going till it dies. Doesn't matter if there's no oil in the sump, the brakes are locked, the tyres have no air..... just keep going....

Some people really make your day and give you a good laugh, thank heavens for them!

There's a lot to be said for spinning the wheel by hand as you pump the brake up.

If it doesn't revolve freely, you really should be asking yourself - why not?

Bloody dumbfounded that anyone could ride it to that point, it must have sounded horrible and surely you would have felt something. Some people dont deserve to own bikes.

HA! My first bike was a KLR and I forgot to put my spacer in one time. It ran very strange and felt strange. After about 2 miles I turned around and headed home and took it apart. I fixed (cheap) the parts I trashed and moved on with my life. I am blown away that this turkey would ride the bike until it failed. It almost looks like a joke. I loved my KLR but I REALLY love my SuperDuke.
