So - been hearing on the wireless that preservative 211 is going to kill me after making grow three more heads and tuen green or something. Its found in most drinks that are sugar free.

So, what am gonna drink my bourbon with? Used to drink it with Coke Zero...

Whats your everyday Bourbon over there (anywhere)? Here in Oz its mostly Jim Beam or Wild Turkey as the normal garden variety choice... of course thers the up market stuff.

Milk?

Cheers

Gday jawk, mate I drink shiteloads of wild turkey (mainly premix cans cause I'm too lazy to mix my own) but when I buy a bottle i usually mix with 50/50 soda water and coke. It takes the sweetness edge off and so far I've only grown 1 extra testicle..
Thanks Joely, The sweetness doesnt bother me too much - just the sugar - dont eat much sugar so I get a bit of a hit from it !! Plus a kilo on the waist with every spoon ful!!

I like the soda idea tho... I'll stop off at shops on the way home I reckon. Not having fun at work today!

Cheers
Gary

Maker's (rocks) is definitely the benchmark for sippin' with no mixer.

I've found that a splash of unsweetened black tea with Beam or other non-premium bourbon takes the edge off and the taste isn't bad for an actual mixer. Booker's is a Beam product that is pretty tastey as well, coke or tea.

Jack, Woodford, Knob...not a huge fan but with a mixer is not terrible.
I can't help much with Bourbon but I used to drink Vodka with all sorts of mixers and I realised how much coke I would drink in a night because of this. I've since switched to Soda water and fresh lime for most of the time - Redbull the rest!

I like the Iced tea idea, I'm going to try that one.
Ack! What are ya'll douhin' to yah fine wisskhey pourhin' that shugar in it?

Here's my take on the matter. If your going to mix it with anything other than, at most, a couple cubes of ice just buy any $15 bottle and you'll be fine. But if you want to taste what you paid for, like Aegis said, a cube or two of ice at most depending on what you bought. Makers Mark, Knob Creek, Wild Turkey, or Bookers are all fine daily drivers you cannot go wrong with (but there are alot of good bourbons in the $25 - $30 range). If you want to treat yourself to a "finer" bottle for not much more money try Woodfords Reserve, a Wild Turkey Rare Breed, or a Bookers 6 - 8yr old. I also had a Pappy Van Winkle 15yr old I really liked.

Anyhow, those are all the ones I've tried and liked. Just like wine, to drink only one make and brand would be cheating yourself. Like women it's all a matter of personal perference. Some like debutantes and some like 'em straight off the pole. Try 'em all ya'll and decide for yourself.
Thanks for the info - going to light the fire when I get home, and sit back and try (much) of your advice !!

Cheers, bottoms up.

Such a pity I've never drunk any alcohol for the flavour seems I'm missing out...
