Well Men, I found one of the Mother Lode of Trail Rides.
South to North back bone thru Idaho, and well documented thur this link.
This is a real find for me. I been in parts of this country and I really like it.
I have been following some personal ride reports of this area, but this link has a combined effort of many with vido to boot.

I read that the first part is hard on ya. I just watched a vido on part of it. My body was tense just watching it. That can take a toll on ya as much as ridding the bike.

Now to down size on my bike collection and invest in a light weight 2013 KTM 350.
Hum ...lets's see..Ducati ST4S + Suz Bandit 1200 + the XR650R should cover it.
Any body need any of this stock

Enjoy this link below over the Holidays.

I would love to do some of that, the Oxford Ridge for example looked like a lot of fun

Near imposible to organise from this side of the pond though with family and work commitments etc. Would need to find a bike, all the wilderness kit, sort tha nav d thn reverse all that before leaving. Expensive and time consuming but if I were locato this tail I would be very tempted to ve a go!

Thanks for posting up the link.

Thanks for that link Doug, now I know what ride I absolutely have to do before I croak. Tour of idaho! Spent all day yesterday riding singletrack and I'm feeling wiped out today. Would definitely do some physical training to prepare for 1500 miles of it. Let us know if you start planning to do the TID, I might ask to join you for part or all of that epic!

Cheers.

Wow!!! I would could not do that ride. It looks like a spectacular challenge and I hope the stars align in the right order for you to pull it off. I would hope that the S4RS would fetch enough for the trip. They must be holding their value no?
It is not a dual sport ride but you need a street registered ride?
Two hundred mile days of single track, that is oversized tank conditions. Why not the XR, it has a large tank and air cooled. You could pull it off on an XR 400 with ease and save a ton of Dosh.
I'll be in Idaho in September, I'm headed to Maine on the northern route at the middle of that month.
I'm doing http://www.backcountrydiscoveryroutes.com/UTBDR in July the week after the SBK round at Laguna. I just started outfitting a DRZ400 for the ride. I hate dirt I am scared to death but I got to do it.
