The law is discriminatory and punitive. It will effectively kill an industry, just what we don't need in these lean economic times. Not all after market exhaust systems are louder than stock.

To limit one segment of the population (motorcyclist's) to only using an OEM exhaust system is discriminatory, (auto owners can purchase after market exhaust) and punitive because it punishes anyone that wants to have freedom of choice.

Imagine the impact of this law is going to have on the aftermarket exhaust companies. It has effectively killed them.

The State of California should enforce the laws that are already on the books. [/i]

The govornment should leave people the fook alone,, and worry about the crooks that are in govornment, in my state the new govonor promised the world to get the office, once in , he decided that the free Ford crown vic he would drive wasn't suited for a govonor and opted for a Caddy, then his office needed a complete makeover big $$$$$$,, then "no new taxes" turned into raising taxes and finding new things to tax, ie: candy, soda pop, and lets increase everything already taxed to death, gee think this guy's a crook then he gave usless high paying jobs to his friends, a crook naah,, now it's election time again, seeing him saying what he's gonna do next think he's a crook yet someone should soda pop him right in the arse,,,,he's making me pay the state for a "license" now to do a job I've been doing for 30 years for free, but guess what , THERE ARE NO JOBS , so I have to give part of an unemployment check back to the state so I can just apply for a job "if" one becomes available,,this guy makes me want to up-chuck on his left foot,, if he gets in again., I have no doubt he'll be on the quiet bandwagon , sooner than later, following the govanators leed fer sur,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

The things that we are not free to do, or laws passed for "our own safety" would require a separate forum.

Do I wear a helmet on my motorcycle? Yep
Should there be a law saying I have to? No

I do anyway, same as wearing a seatbelt. I do it on my own, but don't think I should be forced to.
Why, as a law abiding US citizen can I not buy a handgun in any state but the one I reside?
I know the intent of that law, but it does not stop the criminals from getting guns.

I can go on and on about this, but I won't. That is a rant unto itself.

The PD in a nearby town this past summer pulled this crap on a very swoopy biker road,, checked all bikes for loud exhaust, tickets written , and D.O.T. approved helmets,, seems if they could put their billy club down your pipe you were busted,, 200 tickets in one day all of em showed up in court to protest, and many cases were thrown out,, what a waste of time and money,,,,

Now if I can just find a way to mount a 249SAW to the handlebars I'll be set.

Those are just examples I use of the infringement on our every day lives.
I see people here on sport bikes every day with no helmet.
Saw a couple on a nice Ducati yesterday, no gear at all. That is legal here, stupid, but legal.
It is about money, the folks along that road in Cali have money and they are going to get their way.
Insurance lobby has money, and will get their way. The US government is run by special interests and big business. The people do not have a say in it any longer, and this needs to change.

Caution. Coffee in cup may be hot!

Remember when we were kids. We use to go down to the field and play army with are toy guns and rifles, and before that it was cowboys and Indians with our six shooters on our hips. We didn't need no friggen helmets when we rode our BMX bicycles, we didn't need to wear knee&elbow pads when we played football in the street and we could play kick the can after dark. America lives in fear. Bring America back...Have the freedom to go down to the field and widdle a sling shot with a pocket knife.

A part of growing up is getting hurt. It makes us stronger, it gives us character, and it makes us stronger. America needs to grow up. We can't always do what big brother wants. We need to figure it out for our selves. Life is what you make of it!

Sorry rant over. I guess I say things differently.
