Well it turned out my 2 broken ribs were a wee bit more serious. On monday while lying in bed I felt a "pop" in my ribs which hurt.... a lot !

I was laid on my back and couldn't get up or even roll onto my side for pain plus I was getting stabbing pains in my ribs every 5-10 mins!

Rather embarrassingly 3 paramedics had to lift me out of bed on a spine board and I was carted off to hospital

4 days of terrible hospital food and a bill for 940 euros and it turns out I have.....

3 broken ribs, bruised lung and a loose bit of rib floating around!

and the cat scan also revealed I have a kidney stone

So I am now signed off work and off sports until the 28th of this month. If the doctor won't let me back up the mountain after that I'll call it end of season and head back to blighty !

Sorry to hear that but Fair play for carrying on as long as you did dude

Look at the positives though, it will all be dealt with in 1 go and youl be back on your feet asap

Fook that, bollox do they, I had Kidney stones only 18months - 2 years ago and they didn't offer to zap it at all the bastards, in fact if I hadn't paid for a private ultrasound I wouldn't have even got the better drugs in time to help with the insane pain.

Man it's frustrating writhing around in pain in a busy chemist just waiting for them to sort your prescription.

Still, get well soon Jody and try not to laugh too much with those ribs, the kidney stones will just be something to look forward to

Once the kidney stone is gone the laptimes on the SD will improve due to less weight on the bike.

BTW I don't think they can zap the stones while your ribs are not fully healed....

Last time I did in the ribs I spent 3 months sleeping in the lazyboy. (rocking recliner chair) Sit down, ease up the feet, and slowly lean it back.
Mine were cracked on the side and getting into and out of bed was a pain.

My Dad got rushed into hospital just last week with a kidney stone. He was in agony until they gave a decent painkilling injection. He was in hospital for a couple of days and got back yesterday, the doctors are hopeful it will just pass naturally now.

He had one on the other side a number of years ago and they operated to remove it. The cut a great big slot down his side , opened up the ureter and then couldn't find the stone!

I'm off to the doctors again today to see if they'll let me back to work or continue to sign me off. I suspect they will sign me off again as I'm still in quite a bit of pain and haven't slept properly in weeks (sound familiar Motoronin?).

But then I have to make a decision. IF I get signed off for say 2 weeks, well there is only 3 weeks of the season left ! but I have a meeting in half and hour with the owners of the chalet I've been working on, they want me to paint the inside of the chalet at the end of the season. IF it was not for the painting, I'd simply go home early and miss the end of the season. If the painting job comes off I will have to spend ANOTHER 2 weeks sat on my uncomfortable bed watching films (unpaid), followed by a week of normal work, then 4 days of shutdown/cleaning followed by a couple of weeks painting. Added to the confusion, I applied for a job last week and could get called for interview (in the UK) if my application is accepted. Really don't wanna have to go back to UK then come back here again for the sake of a couple of weeks.

I suppose I'd better let fate take care of it lol.

One thing is certain though. As soon as I'm back in the UK I'll be straight to the docs telling them to blast that fekking kidney stone !!!

The only it of slightly good news is that the owners don't want the chalets painted until the beginning of May, so I won't be doing it but my parents will
