Anyone on here got/had a Dremel?

Do you rate it or slate?

I'm thinking about getting something to help me with small jobs, polishing small parts on the SD mainly. Is it suitable or is there something out there thats just as good or better? Maybe there's sommat in my existing tool kit that could do it? (cordless drill etc)

a Dremel has its place. i use one for polishing little things or trimming something i cant get to the bench or vise. they have these great little cut off wheels that stay together much longer than the original ones which would fly apart with little provocation. i also use it for detail routing. just small stuff really. for accurate drilling i use a drill press.

that said i have 2 dremels. one i bought as a kid and a newer one that i bought a year ago (that i keep set up in a dedicated router base) the one i bought as a kid still works great and its 30 years old (yikes!...).

Foredom also makes a great product, much more industrial but more $$$$$

I pretty much just use my dremel for small cut off jobs. Haven't used it for polishing and maybe used it once for drilling. I think it's worth having.
