Edmonton Jasper Banff - Any tips for my daughter

My daughter is off to Canada for a conference next week. Flying out of Sydney with temps in 40's C and into Edmonton and temps of -4 to +4.
I suggested she might buy a souvenir elk skin coat or whatever the locals use to prevent freezing.
Their small group is then driving to Jasper, Banff, Calgary and back Edmonton before flying out to Vancouver for a week long medical research conference.
Any ideas on what the roads would be like?
Any warnings about black ice, polar bears, wolves
Thanks
Chip

Got an email from my daughter. There was a delay in SanFrancisco but they have arrived to temps of minus 18

She said it was like stepping into a freezer.

They went out for dinner and it was raining ice crystals. Very pretty she thought.

Thanks for the advice folks.
Chip
