I am considering purchasing a SD in that support of my current ride by the MFGR .... IMO is less than stellar,

Is there a list of TSb's and Recalls for the SD models

Other than dealers ( every body has one good or bad story ) what are the known issues?

I am considering the purchase and want to make an informed decision
talking to owners [ the experts ] is the best way to get schooled.

Thanks in advance

Hi Jim,

KTM do not release these publicly; and I have not seen any identified on the site. The only ones we have discussed is the stalling at idle; and klunking starter.

You should have a chat with some KTM dealers in your area to see if ou can obtain more info.

No need to worry - there is nothing bad we have found yet
Hi Gregz:

thanks

I have been talking to the 2 nearest dealers each are between 100 & 200 km away,
who are not as likely to tell me about issues with the starter / water pump / clutch slave cylinder or the like.

US asking is about $14,000 + taxes so before I do this deal I want to understand better what I am in for good and bad.

120 hp at the rear wheel is pretty impressive, My 01 buell makes about 85
with a "low restriction" intake and exhaust. but it pulls like a tractor
just looking at the features and specs for a comparo, the SD is almost 50 KG lighter, and if it makes 115 RWHP that is 30 hp more than My X1

I like the buell OK but at roughly 33000Km ~ 20,000 miles there has been a few to many service issues for my taste, hence my inquirey.

I have been reading your posts related to the air box, My buell is FI as well some one posted questinons related to possible issues I believe what
'yall may call the lambda sensor ( I think we call this Exhaust O2, most efi systems go to a dynamic control of mixture by monitoring exhaust gas o2 amongst other things) would this tend to compensate for additional air moved by low restriction intake and exhaust?

Oh yes a question are the cylinders plated or iron sleves ?
Hey,

Yep design wise the SD is considerably better than the X1.
The O2 sensor does compensate enough - that I have seen.
You will find that the buell will have a 'morepowerful' bottom end... but the SD will be able to beat that by spooling up quicker and kill it with power.
Weight is mch better and a muffler set will save you another 20 pounds!

Suspension is worlds away from what I have read about the buells. The SD is razor sharp!

I am sure you will not be disappointed, we are all testaments here. Everyone is impressed over Tuono's Speed Triples, R1's, Gixxers, 600's, 1L, sorry I cant name everyone's old bike!

Sorry - no idea about cylinder walls, but I expect nickasil coated Alloy for weight. It is the lightest and smallest engine in it's class.

"what the hell am I waiting for?"

the release here in the US, for a close look / incone taxes and other sundry foolishness, I will have to find the Buell an new home asap too.

I am in the process of doing my home work I liked My Buell,
but its time to move on,

If I can get some issues straightened out I will be riding Orange
If not it will be a while but I will be riding orange.
