Over the winter, when I'm doing a lot of work on the SD, I have it in the house. And then I can get either pissed, stoned or whatever and find myself spending hours looking at it, just taking it all in.

Once, when I was a Ducati freak, (and into delicate beauty and proportional aesthetics) and the SD was first launched, I thought that the SD was ugly and brutal, (in a bad way).

But now I think it is a thing of ugly and brutal in a good way.

I am a product/brand designer by trade and this is a subject I could write about for a long time.

Maybe I will. And see what you lot think of my aesthetic appraisal and functional analysis ranting. One thing is for sure. I own this bike because it is a future classic. No doubt about it. Only two models/upgrades since it's launch yet still tops the poles with the journos for everything from best naked bike, best loony tool, best wheelier, best bang for your buck, best sports bike humiliator, best back road thrasher etc.

And it's a great first "proper road bike" from a company who really previusly only made off road stuff. I know the Duke was their first but that's really an LC4. The SD is a true road bike and they got it right first time.

Just like they did with the RC8.
