Fender extender - anyone got one ?

Been riding in the rain a lot and notice when stopping at lights I get the smell of burnt water followed by steam coming up from the front of the bike. I figure its the rain kicking up onto the radiator and exhaust from the front wheel. Its probably always steaming but I only notice it when stopping/stopped. It dosent really bother me but its annoying when it comes to cleaning the exhaust.

Does anyone run one of the fender extenders you see on ebay, does it make a difference ?. Does it look shit ?

Did you glue it on as per instructions or would you go for a more secure attachment ?

As I try to avoid riding in the rain [*] I don't really need one, so I don't have any experience.

But from the pictures I've seen they make the fender quite a bit longer. That surely must prevent alot of water from spraying on the exhaust.

Yesterday I stumbled upon this nice looking carbon one on eBay:

They have a nice page with mounting instructions:

Once silicone sealant has set it will not come off! So I wouldn't bother drilling holes and stuff.

[*] Belgian drivers, being some of the worst drivers in the world, become even WORSE when it starts to rain... I guess they think that motorcycles don't come out in the rain, so they don't have to look out for them.

Thanks Bert, thats the exact one I was looking at. I think everyone can lay claim to having the worst drivers in the world!, when it rains here people have two modes - half the speed limit, erratic driving or twice the speed limit, drifting corners and roundabouts. Both are pretty concerning from a motorcyclists point of view.

All up though, I kind of enjoy riding in the rain, allows you to work on different skills.

Fitted a normal plastic one to my SD - works well and keeps crud off radiator etc - looks ok to me.

Good idea on all KTM's to try and keep as much water as possible out of the Battery box/electrics

Another tip is rather than fitting a rear hugger fit a fender extender off a Honda VTX something or other to the existing shorty KTM hugger.
