Ooooooh, busted! You got me. I would probably not do it. Bridge builders gotta eat too.
But I'd like to think that I would. The other day I tore a warning sticker off a power tool that said, "DO NOT REMOVE", and then I used it. That felt pretty badass.

I wonder how well that would work from farther away. It is clearly affected by the flash differently than the original plate is (as you can see in the viewfinder, the picture is perfect until the flash goes off). The problem is that as you get farther away, the less effect the flash has. It might still be helpful at night but during the day, I'd venture to guess that you couldn't tell the difference.

Check the number plate on my mate's TT600 Belgarda Motard in these two pics:

The plates were like that when he got it...

Edit: I'm not making any claims about how effective these methods are, I don't think he ever deliberately tested it.

I think you did not venture too far. Plus the further away, the longer the light takes to travel, making the camera get exposed prior to the flashes effect.

I'm guessing that you are one of the lucky ones that had the turbo version that we couldn't get over here.

I'm slowly restoring up my late grandfather's w123 300d ... They are beautiful old things that are built solidly and super comfortable. Im wanting to source one of the turbo motors from the states in the near future... Just to give the ol girl some extra legs.
