Well, I just drove down to a BBQ place in Llano, TX. and bought a Desert Eagle in .44 Remington Magnum from a fellow motorcycle rider. I went to my local range and blasted away with it, let my girlfriend shoot it. I have had a firearm since I was 6 (.22 rifle, I still have it, I am 52 now). I used to hunt dove, not a deer hunter, never shot one. My daughter has, now killed her first deer. She did it last year. They love the venison, I just don't like it. I have been in the NRA a long time, I recently purchased an M1 Garand. I love firearms, my Dad and I spend lots of time talking about guns, reloading and shooting. He is 81 and we still love it. Great sport, and in Texas you can actually own and use your firearms for defense and sport.

Watch the video (I think it is 64 MB or so) of me shooting the Desert Eagle, at the end you see what we in Texas call a "Shit Eatin' Grin"

And of course the pistol itself

And as a bonus, the M1 Garand (I got one for my Dad as well)

the M1 is nice but i'm more impressed with your own SnapOn wheel balancer...

In the UK we are just more inventive as we don't have as many firearms.

I bet we kick American arse in terms of heavy ashtray murders.

I have taken a few days and given this some attention in mind. The question is why do they appeal, not do they appeal. I would venture to guess that most peoples first experiances with firearms is with their dad or other responsible member in their immediate surroundings. There is an emotional connection that brings back good tymes. In many a case that was a right of passage for a youngster and the sporting and killing of ones dinner has deep ties to, you will be able to fend for yourself. This forum is about sporting, internal combustioned driven, device. Many extrapolate on the packing of more explosive packings inside the SD and in certain ways the two share common traights. When You pull the trigger at the apex and you are tottally in the NOW, you are experiancing nothing differant than sighting the ass end of a giant rooster that just scared the living into you. There are few that would dissagree that the smells that run through your nostrils, while taking a ride through the country are a huge sensational treat. Ask a hunter, with his/her eyes closed, what hunting season it is at I bet after one big whiff, they will be able to tell you. Most people are ready and willing to share thier craft or hobby and I have no doubt that with a few postings on Craigslist You will be in-un-dated with quality marksmen that would love to show you the ropes. Appeal, is in spades. Now go pull that trigger.

I dont deny that its a problem in the US, one of our many problems. For example, 14000 alcohol related deaths. Anywhere from 50000 to 200000 medical malpractice deaths. I have a 20% chance of dying from heart disease, and less than 1% chance of dying from a gun.

we went to Tallinn on a stag do and went here:

http://tacticalshooting.ee/front_page/

started off with a .22, then onto AKs, M4.

Then onto a pair of glocks, a S&W 29 semi auto shotgun, and a 50 cal desert eagle.

Here is a crap picture of me and the desert eagle.

I love hitting plates with my Ruger 10-22. Very Fun! I have a 22 conversion kit for 1911 .45...best of both worlds.
