Good Cop, Bad Cop

I'm batting .500 with cops. I've been stopped 4 times in my first year of SD ownership, and got tickets only two of the times. I got pulled over today (doing high 60s in a 35), but the cop (a former rider) was genuinely interested in my safety and did not give me a ticket. Amazing.

How is your luck?

I got a good talking to the other day. 62 in a 35. He was not amused. Let me go with a warning, but told me if I do it again, he would get me for reckless driving. Said he saw my front wheel lift off the ground (which it had not). So alas, no performance award, just a warning. I wanted to tell him "officer, I was only in 2nd gear - let me show you what she'll do in 4th!", but with age has come wisdom, so I refrained. 10 or 15 years ago, it might have had a different outcome.....

I don't want to jinx myself.

Speeder tix in May (after 3 months of ownership), 49 in 35. Stoopid motor patrol. Turning onto a blind downhill curve, and I had the temerity to accelerate in case some knucklehead came barreling down the hill (there's actually one of those little shrines next to the road right at the corner from JUST THAT KIND OF IDIOCY) from any traffic coming down...motor patrol even told me she heard me on decel before I passed her position (hidden behind a sign). From where I entered the road to her position was about 300 yards. I wasn't even out of second and heading for a red light...when I crossed her position I was maybe doing 35. Stoopid motor patrol. She didn't even ask...just told me how fast she got me, I actually asked her if she was kidding. That's when she told me no, not kidding and yes, I heard you decelerating already, but she had already hit me with the radar. Stoopid motor patrol.

I've seen her there 2x since then, and I crawl down that road at 34mph now and watch my rearview the whole damn time. I waved the second time I saw her.

I've had a number of speeding tix on various motorcycles, only been let off once in the middle of the night heading to work on a wide open and lonely 6-lane I405. CHP just wanted to see if I was boozin' I guess. So I'd say I'm hitting maybe .125. Just shitty.
