Love her... Hate her... the Great Experiment still survives.

I, as all Americans (even the Indians) are immigrants.

On my father's side the first Duke4Dirk immigrated to America from Germany in the 1850's and was a Stage Coach Driver. He made a family that later settled in Oklahoma.

On my mother's side they immigrated/ran away to America from Nazi Tyranny in Holland in 1940. My mother was 8 years old. They wound up in California.

In 1960 Duke4Dirk was hatched... in America.

It's been a great ride folks... this place has given me opportunity beyond belief. I've been self-employed most of my life and have reaped the rewards of hard work and dedication. I didn't become Donald Trump or Steve Jobs, but I've made my way through life on my own terms. I've raised a lovely family and now enjoy grand-kids on my knee.

So, for all you yanks out there that are feeling stressed out because things aren't so great or the future looks bleak... if a bonehead, overweight, near sighted, naive, KTM rider like me can make it here...well...

The Great Experiment will survive and prosper... me thinks...

Duke4Dirk, just like your parents I'm an immigrant (from the UK), Married a Yank and took the oath and am a fully fledged citizen (dual citizenship ). I've travelled to 43 states and this is an incredible country. There's some crazy shit here for sure, but there's much to celebrate. I believe I ave made it here; set up a successful business in (Fook) New York and begun to raise a family. So, happy birthday America and cheers to all you folks on this forum, no matter where you reside in this lovey, fooked up world.

My wife and I have a tradition of riding the motorcycle to the cemetary on the hill and watching the fireworks after a b-b-que. It is romantic and patriotic and folklorick. I can rave on about the injustices that our America, but in the end I still get a bit choked up during the National Anthem.
