#2It's all about the rider at the end of the day a superduke with 50bhp less could be quick in right hands.
I don't think it's that much of an animal, deserves respect but not stupid quick.

#4I took another too homo V4 for a test ride last week. The experience was much better than my first ride. This time the TC was on 4 and it was in the sport vs. race mode (or whatever Aprilia labels them). Those settings yielded a much more refined ride than the nutter settings dialed in the last time I rode one. It still tended to squat, but it was far more composed on the road. I may join Dan on the dark side.

#10The 550 "is" high maintance ,,(heads off at like every 5000 miles),,,but the thing goes like a raped ape as far as the hoo moo V4,,,,it's a nice bike but the Italians could have done something better with the look's department,,IMO,,

#11Now now Mike, you need to view the Ape Tuono like it's a woman....gotta appreciate the "gifts" she gives you without being vocal about the looks, or turn out the lights!!
Friend in Tennessee says he just got his V4 broken in a couple weeks ago. Has yet to reset the ecu from break-in mode, so has not yet used the wheelie control or race mode...says rear Pirelli is toast at 1200 miles!! Would not expect the new 1290 SDR to be any easier on tyres...do the math!!
