I wanna be a 'R' soul

Hello all, first post newbie here and my KTM is not fluent yet so please be gentle.

Last Friday I had a test ride on a '07 SD and after 28 years of devotion to big jap fours I have decided to make the switch to the KTM.
Only trouble is I want the R and nothing else will do, this is based on nothing more than pure emotion as I still haven't seen one in the flesh.
I have tried to kid myself that I could save a barrow full of money and get a low mileage '06 and buy a few trick bits but it's no use, it's got to be the R.
So I am busy selling anything that isn't screwed down to get that bike as I don't want to get finance. I've seen a few used ones but people want 8.5k (UK) is that a realistic figure? when they were 8.9 new.

I wouldn't be too insistent on an 'R' until you've ridden one

The seat is very hard and depending on what type of riding you do, it may not be the best option. A low mileage 06 model may be a better buy if you can talk yourself around, there are 2 very nice examples for sale on the forum now.

We all covet the R Steve - some of us have decided that our old arses can't handle the extremely firm seat. Every time someone says "R" they all come out of the closet trying to warn you not to cross over to the dark side...

Do it - you will love it so much you won't notice the seat.

You will notice the steering damper recall though
