In fact I have a reasonable understanding of the need to balance certral authority with checks and balances as seemed sensible in the the context that the constitution was written. I would add that the Clinton administration was behind the deregulation of the securities industry in the 90s (I forget the name of the legislation), which indicates that both parties are to blame for bringing us "the financial meltdown."
