Religious groups can kiss my arse!

I'm following this, but not as closely as my GF, she loves this kind of thing...when I left for work they were up to half way round the ring.....alligning magnets to target the beams. It was all going very well and they even said they might be colliding them today!! EDIT: scratch that, the news just said it'll be a coupla weeks before they collide. They're building up to full power over that time.

Quantum physics is truly fascinating....I did some reading about it a few years ago...very VERY basic level stuff, but it opened my eyes to stuff I'd thought about but not at such depth before. I think it's a great thing that the world watches this, education is always good! As for the political aspects for spending all that money....I have no comment at this time.

If they melt my SD into goo, I'll be really angry....but at least it wont matter!

I have found this to be interesting and have done a decent bit of reading on it. There have been similar tests in the past just not at this large of a scale. One unfortunate thing about this test is that even if something is found or discovered it will years until that happens and even longer till we can understand it and put it into use. I think all the hype surrounding it is just that hype, I cant see anything world ending happening as a result of it. But only time will tell.
Just the shear amount of engineering and design work that has to go into building something of this magnitiude is amazing to me, especially in my line of work.

Hype around the end of the world yes... but not around the possibile technologies that can come from it.
