Looks like I'm going to have to sell the bike :(

What can I say? Absolutely gutted, and I'm well aware I will regret the decision for years to come, but it's looking like I'm going to have to put the SD up for sale in the coming weeks

I've ridden her less and less this year, probably doing less than a thousand miles in the past twelve months, and I've got a number of financial problems that mean I'm going to have to sell the SD, and possibly search for and buy a sh1tter over winter so that I can at least have a bike next year when the roads thaw. I just can't justify owning something that is, in my situation, relatively expensive, and doesn't get used much.

Bummer

Here's a picture of Daisy in her prime to cheer me up

I do have every intention of getting back on a Superduke when I can afford to, in a year or two, possibly on a 1200cc one....

Always sad but at the end of the day...you'll be back to the SD and live better days in the meanwhile

Dude, I'm gutted for you. I've been made redundant twice in the last three years and am currently on contract, praying for renewals, so I have the constant fear of being unable to financially justify my bike(s)... but I'd rather sell a kidney than lose the only thing in my life that I'm actually in control of.

Hope it get's sorted soon, and we'll see you back in black n orange.

Grendel

Grendel has been in your exact place before. Very very hard to make the decision. You might look at raising funds with out actually selling your bike. Just last month Grendel went through his garage and picked up a bunch of bike stuff he did not use and eBay'd it all and raised $1200. You would be surprised. The SD will not raise you as much money are you think (used bike sales are very soft).

Hope you can work out an alternative. But if not, you will be the first in line to get the new version in 2013!!

That sucks dude.

In these times of economic uncertainty and austerity, expensive toys may have to take a back seat. I find girlfriends are quite expensive so it seems sensible to get rid until the economy improves and keep the SD

Sorry to hear this mate.I hope everything works out in the end.
I actually find myself in a similar situation , I have hardly been riding my beloved SD this year.
Fortunately for me , I can afford to keep it and that' what i'll do.

Man I'm really sorry to hear this. I feel for you and I'm actually in a very similar situation as well. Bought mine in May and got layed off in June. I was totally blind sided by that. Fortunately, I have a few promising prospects lined up and if for some reason that doesn't work out, I'm planning on becoming a porn star so...

P.S. Don't tell my wife.

There is always selling your body as a final option??

Joking aside I hope things work out for you dude. Times seem hard all over at the moment

cheers for all the kind words, though I do feel like a bit of an attention whore now

It's kind of a double whammy - I both need the money in the short term, and if everything goes to plan as well I'll be leaving my job early next year and going to college to train for something entirely different. If that (fingers crossed) happens I'll be needing to sell my body AND my girlfriend just to put food on the table

Think about it though , its assumed then when most people are on the bones of their arse , they'll consider turning to crime...........how the feck will you get away from the bank with a swag bag with no SD????????? , didnt think of that did ya

Only thing you could get that would approach the fun factor is a cheap ass supermoto. Some old dirt bike conversion that no one would steal. The millennium falcon of the supermoto world.
