New bike thread :2003 Tuono, first ride and impressions.

As a few people asked about the Tuono i've just bought i thought i'd stick my write up on it up here.

Well the Tuono arrived tonight as expected and i gave it a run.

First impressions.
Footpegs high compared to last couple of bikes.
Seat is flat and firm compared to the SM's i've been riding.
Condition of the bike is A1. Totally immaculate.
Exhaust sounds nice (Standard can)
Brakes are astounding with the Brembo setup and the Galfer Waveys on there.

Onto the riding... it's a little perculiar for me..I'll be moving the handlebars forward at least an inch or maybe even two. They feel a bit too close to the tank as they are. The gearbox clunks with a big old CLUNK into first. Which i believe is usual for the Tuono box.
Idle is set at 3000, maybe a fraction under, which confuses me... this can't be normal surely ?
Power... bloody hell the Tuono engine is powerful. If someone told me this bike was the most powerful i've ever ridden i wouldn't be shocked. You get a kick in the nuts about 7000rpm as a powerband kicks in, and the grunt continues on from there. I actually found myself going WAY too hot into the first few corners as i had to recalibrate the brain to the change of speed. If you open it hard the front is doing it's best to get up into the sky as quickly as possible, however my riding position soon takes care of that.

Front end is sweet but the back is set far too hard for my local roads, will need to look into that ASAP.

Overall, i'm more than happy with the bike, if a little daunted by the power and performance.

Comparing it to the Superduke is tough as it's been a while since i've ridden an SD.

sd pawere dilivery is a lot more linyer , woch out for that seven grand serge , it will cach you out midd bend , bin there done that with the frunt wheel in the air , the idel shoud be set at 1100 Rpm , iff its a prey 06 one there is a little black Knob just under the tank were your leg wood tuck in when you are rideing it , tern it anti clock ways to tern down the idel , ,iff it is prey 06 , you will have a farst idel start up leaver like a choke , but its FI they dont have chokes , dont tirn it all the way on start up just yous two therds , iff its yousd all the way rownd it smashes the Sprag cluch back into its houseing and kills the spring , so jental start ups are good ,

wate till it has a hissey fit stalls and sets evry thing back to faktry defolt settings KPH ,not MPH , that will piss you off iff you havent red the manuel to how to reset .
the handel bars have to doted marks on them L shaped to line them up to were they shoud be in the bar clamps ,

Make shaw you relidjesley put it on an opti charger of some sort ,they eat batrys ,and starter solerniods , fit the Yamahar one if you need one , its just under the drivers seet at the back ,

check to see iff it was derestrickted on its first service ,blue wire cut in the ECU , Top hat restrickter removed out of the air box , but the easy way to check this ,is to take off the 11,5. KLG exhourst ( and you thort the SD's was hevey ) and check the cone has been puld out of the link leed in pipe on the main exhourst .

Loveley bikes ,but pawere to wate raiceo though the SD will kick its arse all day long
