Took the sunny day off work and had some new Racetecs fitted by a local bike shop I just discovered. Great place - old school.

Nice 1 Bic, the perfect summer tyre for some road/bit of track use

Nice one Bic. I'm having some Racetecs put on my newly coated rims tomorrow. Not spankers but last years scrubs. Am very tempted to treat myself to some slicks for this summer. Any recommendations guys?

You find the K3's much different Bic? think the carcass is a bit stiffer.
Craig I think all much of a muchness tbf, if you like meteler racetecs id say go with some Pirelli/metzelers, try a pair of NTEC scrubs the proper race ones they are fab.

You'll get brand new K1 K1 Metzeler slicks for a good bit cheaper than Interacts.
Or maybe even the CompK which is a K3 slick. They're even cheaper at under 200 a set.

£300 bucks a pair £320 by the time they are fitted. That is a fair amount. I'm sure it shows in grip though. Would like to try a set just to see what they feel like. I have spare wheels so its not a problem. Will see how this month goes and maybe treat myself

I fancy trying slicks myself. Just not sure of the weather here though. Think interacts/D211's etc will be good on those days where there's a bit of drizzle inbetween sessions or a drying damp track rather than shagging a set of wets or sitting the session out and losing tracktime.
My local dealer said Metzeler have dropped their prices a good bit this season to compete with the R10 (which have shot up to Dunlop money). I got brand new late 2011 date K1 K2 Interacts for 250. He quoted around 220 for the same tyres in slicks. The CompK quoted at under 200. They might be worth a punt actually. More info needed, but if they're the Interact carcass with K3 compound it might be worth a punt. Doubt they'd just fire out a non treaded version of the road spec K3 tyre.
I've got no experience of the Dunlops. But from everything I hear they seem very pressure and suspension sensitive. Get it even a few psi wrong and it rips its self to bits and doesn't come back from it very well once the damage is done. All just what I've heard from guys running them though. No personal experience.

I returned last October, the last time I rode a bike, and used the Dunlops again. Very good wear and grip. Due to the rider being a bit lazy and far from focussed the lap times weren't quite as good. I did have a little vibration problem but I'm sure that's not down to tyre choice.
I now find myself with a few sets of them in the garage! Seeing as I have no Spanish trips planned I may wait till we have good weather and use them at Brands Hatch.

They work just as well over here...and seem to keep close to maximum grip for longer than any other i have used...when they are ready for the bin ...they start to slide
