Superdan
Right, started using a guy near me and he was changing tyres for 7 quid a wheel if I took them to him, bargain Then find out he was a mechanic for KTM Lincoln (no longer KTM dealership) and knows his way round a superduke!
So I take my Dunlops which I used for Scotland and got them fitted, no problems.
I then come back home and want my fooked Dunlops replacing with worn racetecs (done one trackday and about 700 road miles) from my black wheels, (they were fine prior to going away) as had sold them.
I take them to the tyre guy my intention being using the part worns till Cadwell and getting a fresh set on, the front is pretty new the rear has shit loads of centre tread. I come back to the tyre guy who then tells me the tyre is flat, he pumps it up only to hear a whistling noise from the side wall, sure enough a hole has developed which I KNOW was not there before as it was not flat when I took it in, he denied anyknowledge of doing it, im none too impressed but could not prove it was me or him that had done it (they were fine on my bike) maybe I had punctured the sidewall while they were in the garage by means unknown, so he does me a "good deal" on a new Racetec rear 140GBP and gets it the next day and fits it for me, I did not see the point of running a worn front as I was going to change it for Cadders so gave him my new front that was lying in the garage to fit too.
I then arrive and pay him, he gives me my old tyres back and then I get home and inspect the tyre, only to find a big friggin dirty screw driver mark on the inside of the tyre leading upto the hole in the side wall.
So clearly it was not my fault he had done it putting the tyre on with a screwdriver or tyre iron, the hole is more of a flap so would suggest a screwdriver... so I go back and politely explain the situation to the tyre guy (who is also the manager) and he admits responsibility, but wont pay for the racetec I just bought off him, "its a used tyre, they dont reccomend you swap them over!?", "its only a 30 quid tyre now its used, not 140!?", clearly his answers were twaddle, however he said he would give me some really good discount if I want any work doing-fat chance .
So im contemplating some small claims action, I dont really do civil law but what are you thoughts? You think I have a good claim? Going to be sending him a letter first as small claims court like you to do all you can to get the money back as court is a last resort.
I could get him to do some work on my bike real cheap but sure as hell dont trust him as far as I can throw him.
So now im resigned to hardly using my bike prior to Cadders as dont wanna shag my expensive tyres up dont have the dosh to buy anymore.
And.....relax
