Stupid Luke
Today I thought I would take the kids down to Dymchurch. Upon reaching the A20 I ended up behind a couple of bikes. The front rider had a 57 plate Hayabusa. The second rider was one one of those XJR 1200 /1300 things. There was another of the trio behind me on one of those big gay jap chromy cruiser things.
I followed these two for a couple of miles becoming increasingly incredulous. The XJR rider kept varying his positioning from the nearside gutter to about 3ft from the kerb. The Hayabusa pilot was resolutly in the middle of the lane, irrespective of left and right hand bends.... and they were both achieving the neck breaking speeds of....40mph.
The road was pretty much empty, had good vision and few bends (none of which were challenging) I and everyone else I know regularly exceed 100mph down there.
In the end I was comfortably able to overtake both of them in a diesel Punto loaded with 4 people without exceeding the speed limit. Furthermore, I then watched them dissapear from my rear view mirror in half a mile or so, again without exceeding the speed limit.
Now, I would redily agree that 100bhp is all you need for the road and even 60bhp is adequate. Neither would I censor anyone's right to chose whatever bike appealed in the showroom. We all buy bikes that exceed our abilities to get the best from them but WTF????????
What kind of micro penis Walter Mitty persona would buy a Hayabusa or an XJR to travel at 40mph with all the advanced riding skills of a pensioner on a C90? If you know these people for God sake get them to trade for Harley Davidsons they are giving the rest of us a bad name.
