Doesn't look so flash now does it! Ha ha. Clearways highside makes second time through gravel at speed this year. Texture it puts on all cycle parts makes bike look like one of those deep space satellites that has been pounded by space dust for a million years. Adds character I reckon.

That first picture is by the resident photographer with Focussed Events trackdays. He's really good, always gets pin sharp focus at the best locations.

Well now you come to mention it as well as his usual ass pounding BTD also came off at Clearways.

It constantly opens up leading you slightly downhill into a dip and goes back up again on to the start finish straight, I think most people tend to lose it on the second half of the corner when getting on the power opening it up for the straight as you've still got it banked over a lot, although these pictures from the outside of the corner don't really do it justice.

I must admit, the entrance to clearways is my weak point there.
I do get out of the corner pretty sharpish though.

I love Brands GP but you do get a bit passed on a Superduke on the back sections by the 1 litre 4's if you're not really trying hard. That's why the Indy circuit is so great because it's all about corners and not just speed.

I came to grief with Clearways because the inters. group I was with was a bit slower than normal and so I started overtaking round the outside rather than holding the inside line. I think I was on the negative camber bit and maybe also hit some loose stuff for a moment.

I can still remember the speed at which everything went bad. Been back since but it was wet and I never got my full confidence back for that corner.

I agree, Padock Hill is OK and really fast when you get used to it. Love the view as you hit the apex and sweep down that track!

Have to wait for next Spring now.

Clearways hurts - Wore a hole in the arse of my leathers, though alas not in the centre so I can't even wear them clubbing!

I came off going round the outside of a few novice riders, one of whom was my mate Took the lot of them and then lowsided straight into the gravel. I'm still not back up to my pre-crash speed, specially not on the road, it taught me I just don't know the point at which the back steps out well enough to piss about!

Well, as we're clearing the air.......

Summer '97 and I'm approaching clearways and there's a pack ahead of me. So like others here I decided to take a very wide line and go 'round them.

All was going well until 3/4 round when a GSXR600 in front of me and to the inside had a bit of a moment and picked up. He drifted out in front of me and had a brake or hit him dilema.

I tried a bit of brake, but the combination of lean angle and being on the dirty part of the track ensured the front went. I was pretty cranked over so I didn't have far to fall.

I did a few cartwheels through the gravel, and the bike was so dug in it took 3 of us to lift it!

After that day I was always wary of just shooting 'round the outside.

This was 2 hours later, I only have half a rightside footpeg left!
