Iv'e had the pilot powers on for 3000 odd klm's and rear needs replacing now, awesome tyres that you can wear down to the edges and give superior feedback, way better than the Pirellis, they should be standard on the SD. And "just a tip" tempering the throttle in a straight line saves the rubber in the middle where they allways wear first, I am fitting a new one tommorow.

Its all personal pref but I like the Pirelli Diabolo III's, or whatever they are now, more than the 2ct's. I had to change the rear Dunlop 208 on my bike after 1200miles and have decided to go with a Dunlop Roadsmart rear. Unless your doing trackdays all the time I doubt there will be any difference from the new sports touring tyres and the sportbike tyres.

I've said it before andI'll say it again, Diablo Strada's! Getting my 3rd rear tomorrow, £100 fitted. Currently getting around 7000miles off a rear and I've done twice that on my front and it's not even squared off!

Did a trackday on it last year and although I was in novice, the only person faster than me was Toby. I'm not a nutter but they didnt even HINT at giving up the grip.

Cold weather grip is very good too btw.

I use the Bridgestone 016's and have been an awesome commuting tyre.
They last for ages - over 5,000k's from a rear about 8-9,000k's for the front.
The fronts profile is not to everyones liking but they are a good everyday and weekend tyre.
Front is dual compound - med centre and soft sides
Rear is triple compound - hard centre to medium sides to soft edges.
Because of the hard centre the rear wears really evenly when commuting and doesn't square off like other tyres do.

kiwi - have you tried 2CTs? I have a pair of 016s lined up for my next change, but wonder if I will like the change in profile switching from 2CTs.

joe has seen many threads on tyres, in the process this summer of having my track days and feeling like I was testing the limits of traction available

I happened to have a conversation with an interesting fellow at the race track and he talked as if he knew his stuff,

he went into great explanation about the effect that a big V-twin has on a rear tyre, he stated that the twin has more torque and that all tyres were not

suitable for the ass of a twin, some were actually designed for them, some would not weather as well,

I can definitely see the difference a in line 1ltr has on a rear and front tyre opposed to the SD.
