I was in the paddock at the Miller Motorsports round of World Superbike, when the American national anthem was being sung, to signify the start of the races. Out of "respect" for the Americans, or a code of conduct that circles the globe all the support crews from the teams from off distance lands, stopped what they were doing and took off thier hats, stood silent, and waited till it was over to continue with thier duties. You would not get that out of an American fan. When Kenean Suffoglu's national anthem was being played for him when he won the Supersport race, there was not one other, than I, that showed an ounce of "respect". Indoctrination has such a lemmingish sound to it. I would like to think it to be more of a show of politeness to others. The goose step and Hiel would fall under the indoctrination catagory. But I certainly see where the line can be drawn, by others looking from the outside, at different positions. International racing has a huge nationalistic pride and feel to it that If winning for your country is how the winner decides to take the direction then I will give him or her thier moment of splendor.
