First post. Howdy. I am new to KTM. I bought a 97 Duke 620 earlier this year as a commuter. Fun fun fun little bike. I was recently in for some service on it and made the horrible mistake of sitting on a Super Duke that was in the show room. I'm a tall lanky bastard, and it fit perfect! That never happens. So now I can't get the bike out of my mind.
I have had the luxury of never financing a bike before, but would have to finance a bit of this one. I also would have to sell some of my fleet to raise the money. I have a Ducati Multistrada, Triumph 675, and the Duke I. I would sell the MTS and the Duke I. But I'm afraid I'd be giving up too much. The MTS is a great touring and scratching bike. Higher maintenance - but I do my own valve and belt maintenance.
Early reviews of the superduke loved it but hated the mileage (or should I say range). I understand that has improved with the '07, true? I'm not looking for a touring machine, but how well can you load down the Duke and take off for a long weekend? My idea of touring is taking the most sinuous route to a destination, staying there as a base and playing on the roads in that area, then taking a different twisty route home, about a 1200 mile extra long weekend if all works out.
