Great story, bet it is in far better condition now than it was 46 years ago.
Got a mate who had his XR600 stolen and returned 2 years later fitted with heaps of aftermarket goodies that it never had prior. Almost a win.

Got a basket case Triumph Trophy years ago on a trade. Pulled the head off and noticed piston slop with .060 over pistons already in place so I pushed the project aside, made another bad trade for a cherry 61 VW bug that blew up on the way home. So the Triumph was passed on some more over the years and got a total rebuild. He went to get the title in his name and found out it was hotter than a 2 dollar pistol. The motor went back to the original owner. Turned out the brother ripped his own brother off. I was selling some of the leftover parts of that deal at a swap meet and guys started to recognize there ripped off parts. Oh what a wonderful feeling.

Back in 83 some scum stole my RD250LC it was the first time I didn't have insurance on a vehicle.
