I'm on the waiting list for a Hypermotard S, but while waiting I've had lots of time for virtual shopping, during which I've also developed an interest in the Super Duke. Sat on one Saturday, and it felt very comfy (while stationary - no demo available locally). I know it's not as attractive, but s/b quite a bit faster. My main priorities are fun factor @ sane speeds on public roads and comfortable ergos.
Has anyone ridden both? Does the Super Duke provide significantly more wind protection? Does either bike's exhaust heat up the seats much? Which is more comfy, and which has the higher fun factor?
I've ridden (and enjoyed) a HM, but unfortunately have no local opp. to test an SD. I could save $$2-3K w/ the SD, but don't want to let the cost sway my decision except as a tie breaker if everything else is too close to call.
I wouldn't even be asking this question if this was a dirt bike...since buying my first KTM, an '06 450 XC, I won't even consider another brand for the dirt! Unfortunately, my first Ducati ownership experience wasn't so pleasant, but I'm willing to chalk up my problem as a fluke and give them another chance.
