Grendel has ridden both steeds and believes the SD far superior. The brakes on the Trumpet need constant attention, but work well when maintained (reseat the caliper boot every couple hundred miles). The SD are just great. ABS sucks. There is no way Grendel could smoke the rear tyre in full lockup at each light if he had ABS. He doesn't have ABS. The engine pulls harder than the 1050, but it start higher in the rev range. Fueling is a little off from the trumpet until you get out of the low rev ranges. Then they are a peer.
As for handling. Your SD (your sd, because you will come to the dark side...) handles much better. It is lighter. It carries it's weight better. It has quicker turn in. It doesn't track on big sweepers as well as the trumpet.
Oh and it is hell on tyres.
