#7I rode the 08 model and it is comfy, stable, pretty fast but it will not bring the grin factor that the SD gives.. No where near as fun..

#82010 model looks really aggressive.. apartly like a zx10 without the fairing.. also really well priced!

#10I have tested it.
Easy controllable power, ok handeling but compared to a SD it feels wide and heavy. The main problem though, is the total lack of soul.
The one I rode had the snakeskin seat.......totally hiddious!

#11lol.. I heard from a mate that the sd is a far higher spec bike.. and that the kawa is very plastic... Going to ride to dealer on Sat... will probably keep riding right past it

#12I went and sat on one at a local dealer. I immediately lost interest. It felt cheap and plasticy. The SD is quality.

#13Rode one a year ago for about an hour. It was brand new Z1000. Nice bike with lots of power but a little cramped for my size at 6ft 2in and 220lbs. To be honest it was just OK. The fact is the SD and Z1000 are just completely different bikes and come from two different worlds. Hard to really compare them. For fun factor...SD all the way in my opinion.

#14Well , seems mostly they say the Superduke and Ducati street fighter are setting the standard.. a bit strange that kawasaki is not bringing them into South Africa again...??

#17Euro naked = high spec components
Jap naked = compromise

#18My mates just bought one, it is very plasticky, and very fussy looking i think. I should have ride on it over the weekend, i'll let you know my thoughts.

#22OK.. Just took the Z for a ride at the local kawa dealer... And as much i wanted to be good... it's just not... First thing I noticed was how arrow the bar are, coming from superbikes I was surprised how quickly I’ve gotten used to the wide bars..and at first the kawa seemed claustrophobic.
Other issues include:
1.) Bike feels heavy (top heavy)
2.) Really need to turn the throttle to get it to go... engine feels really tight.
3.) In the looks department the bike is really awesome looking... don't feel the bike is too plastic.. But the front does not look as good as it does in the pictures...
Over all, although I thought you guys were all crazy when you mention the soul of the duke .I'm now a believer... and as I rode out of the parking lot I just SMILED!!
LOOKING FOREWARD TO MANY MORW HAPPY K'Ms!!

#23Told you so mate..
I've test ridden numerous bikes since buying the SD but not one has tempted me to switch.. As I've said before, the SD is the motorcycle world's version of: If you go black you don't go back..
