I joined Dan and am now too homo too.

Went for a 130 +/- mile ride yesterday. Initial thoughts:
1. Seat is a brick. Worse than the stock SD, definitely worse than the S1000RR. Gell seat will be the second mod. (First mod was frame sliders(not shown)).
2. Engine is lacking torque below 5K. I know others have said this, but I hadn't found it to be a problem with the test bikes I rode. Maybe it will get better after the first service? Overall, the S1000RR has a much better motor: more grunt everywhere, smoother and better gas mileage. But who needs 180 rwhp on the street?
3. After 6500 rpms, the bike turns into a proper animal. Once the exhaust valve opens, an aural bliss takes over.
4. Handling is superb. Great front end feel. Stock Pirellis have great grip.
5. Fueling is dependent on TC settings. I started out with the TC set at 8 (most intrusive) and rode like that for a while in the Sport mode. The fueling was erratic. Most of the time it was fine, but sometimes it would hesitate. (I never got a TC warning light though). I decreased the TC setting to 6 (4-6) is recommended for the Sport mode. Fueling was much better (more consistent). I could feel the black wheel break loose a few times, but again, never saw a TC light flash.
6. Wind protection. For a naked bike, it seems to keep air from hitting my legs. (The SD always pinned my feet to the pegs above a certain speed). Once its broken in and I can start playing in the 8500+ rpm range, I'll be able to see if this holds true. Wind buffeting, etc. was not an issue at 80 mph.
Looking forward to getting back to the track.
