Torquey Twins - a myth?

First post here so not out to provoke anyone...just get the facts straight

"Everyone" knows that twins has more torque than parallell 4s. But comparing my (well tuned) Fazer 1000 '02 (FZ1), I have at least as much torque/power as any of the dyno graphs om this site. And I have more top end power (133 rear wheel hp).

So is it at myth that twins have more torque

It's a 90% chance I'll be a Superduke owner next year. Did a test ride and was impressed by the ergonomics (even better than the fazer ) and the steering. I was afraid it would be nervous, but it was just easy to turn. I didn't test it anywhere near the limits, but I am sure its a blast when you get used to it. I had maybe expected it to feel even more powerful, but then again I'm used to a pretty powerful bike.

realise I didn't specify that my Fazer has at about the same torque/power over the entire range, also low down. (See dyno graph under). Even when comparing to tuned SDs.

The Fazer has I believe more low down Torque than a lot of I-4s and the Superduke is maybe more reyv(?) than most twins, so maybe that's why my Fazer has the same power also at low rpms as the Superduke.

But then again the Superduke weighs a lot less and is pretty powerful for a twin.

Also agree that I-4s top end are most useful on track, but the Fazers ground clearance is rubbish, so it's really not a very good track tool. Can't wait to try the Superduke on track if I end up buying one.

But the figures on paper don't show the feeling or character of a bike.

I rode my mates 04 R1 and well... that thing was a missile. But putting around on it was rather boring. And it didn't handle like my SD....
