Born and mostly raised in California, I have been lucky enough to be surrounded by spectacular motorcycle roads. I often take four day camping-riding treks through the state. I also do not mind a fire road shortcut or side adventure when on a big trailee. By far and away the Devil's backbone is the most jaw dropping, heart pounding, thrill around every bend, road I have had the pleasure to roll over. There is a section of highway 160? in Missouri toward Arkansas that was great and the is the Pig's Tail in Arkansas that ranks way up too.
If I am near Durango or Mazatlan, I will not pass up the thrill of riding up the Devil's Spine. The town of ElSalto is in between and a great stop over.
The road in the picture reminds me of Pikes Peak. I say after a while a back and forth switchback tends to get a bit boring. I like a hill and dale ride.

What he said ^ ^, with as many mountain passes as possible.

Went to Yellowstone, Wy. from Oregon one year over every paved mountain pass we could.

Way fun trip.

Not exactly full of variety is it!

The highway version of Cartagena.

The Spanish Pyrenees is great for bikes. A lot of riders go to Andorra thinking it's the prime cut, but actually they are the busiest roads in the area. If they turned the other way there are countless roads of superior quality with hardly any traffic on them.

My home road, maybe not the ultimate in the world, but I like it much. There are others around as well. Oh, almost forgot, there were SDR 1290 launch on them

The first road is called The Devil's Backbone (in Arkansas) and is 3 miles from my home…Can usually run this road (22 miles) and usually only
run across 6 or less other vehicles…most going opposite direction. This road gets me to Push Mountain Road (second video,) which is 39 miles from the house…makes for a very nice loop when highways 14 and 5 are used to connect the dots.

Road to Everest base camp, Tibet, 2008. Gravel road paved by yaks pulling a metal blade over it. So corrugated it disintergrated the internals of the watch I was wearing and left me with sore wrists for the next year. Damn it was worth it though!

Done the Nullabor 4 times in a car, about 3 times too many. If I was ever going to ride over east I would train the bike across and start in Adelaide.
