well boys, i rebuilt my water pump with the 2009 kit, it has 16k miles and the coolant would dissappear from the res tank. it all went smoothly enough due in part to the excellent instructions from:

the pump shaft was in deed worn, quite deeply in fact where it meets the seal.
odd thing though was that there didnt appear to be any coolant in the oil, however the filter itself was wavy. the coolant was clear as well and i didnt see any foreign matter/sand when i flushed the system. the impeller looked fine. upon reassembling, one of the circlips that holds the seal onto the shaft was wonky, it didnt appear to be heat treated and twisted torsionally so that it wouldnt lie flat in the groove. i was able to source one from a local Suzuki dealer.
the revised kit comes with a differently designed impeller and matching housing that flows more coolant.
it all went together quite nicely with no leaks, but then i havent ridden it far yet. heres how we bled the system and it worked quite well.
the bike was on a rear stand with bobbins. my bro and i just lifted the front end and supported the front wheel with an aluminium dirt bike stand. it has a sq. 3x3" through the top center to drain oil from your dirt bike i would assume.
the front tyre nested into the square and the whole bike was quite stable
sitting like this while the coolant filled. i cant see how it could be done with one person though. its good to have the second set of hands if only for peace of mind.
the whole process took 2 days just because of my schedule, if you have a day clear it should only take 4-6 hrs id think. faster maybe that now i know whats involved.
