i like the underslung exhaust and headlights.. and noise... the rest may have to grow on me.
looks like it has a gsxr tank and tail... weird
on the plus side... the ducati 999 & 848 prices are going to drop further... mmm 999

Bad ass looking bike. It's tail does look GSXR.
Here's a link from my Buell forum that I've been following regarding this bike and the Buell 1190, it's pretty interesting, a lot of people are drinking the Buell koolaid.... So far the thread is 3 pages long, the link is to page 3, with the first two pages available to click on top of the screen.

The buell 1190 rs (fixed... Damn predictive text)... Now that is a sexy bike.

My personal feeling is - meh. Based in Ducati's history, I doubt the weight and power claims. I also question the engineering and foresee the damn things cracking in half. But, maybe I just don't understand the frame layout.

I don't like the exhaust sticking out the side. But the rest of the bike looks pretty good to me.
I'm very curious about the reliability, so far I've read two tests of the 1198 where in it broken down. I hope the 1199 will do better.

I think its ugly. I like the appearance of Terblanche's 999 better. At least its not as hideous as Buells (all Buells ...). We all know that with an all-new engine, chassis, and ton of electronic features, its bound to have some issues ... it's Ducati ... which still means it will be less problematic than a Buell (again, all Buells) - even the $40K USD variety.
Buell trashing aside (too easy a target), I'd definitely pony up for an RC8R Race Spec well before the Panigale.

I think this bike is righteous. Easily the best looking supersport.

I've said it before & I'll say it again - I think Single sided arms look like SHIT!!!
AGRO!
From the profile it looks like a R6....
Also I think Ducati have done away with belts on this one! At last

Love it. Love the back tyre size. Personally I miss the trellis frame but I guess it was time to move on. A true 916 successor I think time will show.
CEREC1
I don't want to love it but I do! Please god don't make me need one. It could tempt me. I must be strong. (and no crappy cam belts. )

Stupid Luke
Sounds like a great engine. Trouble is they've put it in a chassis that the best rider in the world cant win a race on, the second best hasnt tried and the third best won a few races but binned it in every other, before going to Honda and getting his yellow teeth over the line quite regularly.
I reckon boycott Ducati until the fuckwits get a Moto GP bike right.
Given that most new bikes, and all Italian new bikes, cost the same as a Used Superduke, a new but left over stock RC8, and best part of a Gas Gas enduro bike they must be fookin good to sell as I would rahter have 3 bikes for 12 -16 grand than one.

A bit ironic that on the day they launch the road bike using that style of frame, the motoGP guys are rolling out a bike with a conventional perimeter frame.
I'm pretty sure the 1199 will be mustard.
LOL at Luke's rider ranking as well!

Unless you guys plan to race this thing on MotoGP spec Bridgestone tyres yourselves, I don't see what difference it makes what the MotoGP Ducati team is doing. Their set of requirements and circumstances is about as 180 degrees from ours as it can possibly get.

I'm not the biggest Ducati fan and can't see the point of buying one unless I strike lotto but they still make amazingly good looking bikes...Drool...

Looks better in the Tricolore and dont mind the new 848 Corse scheme either.

absolutely stunning bike , think the underneath of the tail does look similar to the S1000RR , which is allegedly a K5 copy anyhow.
Mahoosive amount of cash though , still determind that the only thing i will change the BMW for is a new Superduke when it arrives
Do they have the new 690 at the bike show this week , quite like the look of that

Think I'd prefer that 848, might just be me being realistic (sort of), even though the panigale does look very nice in the Tricolore.

I love the new bike. It's gorgeous and the motor stats are remarkable. Can't wait to see it at the motorcycle show this winter. I feel I need to have one for when I am running late to work..

I was hoping to see the 1199 in WSBK next season but I heard Checa will run the 1198 again next year. I hope they change their mind and put him the 1199.

I'm really anxious to see some dyno runs on this bike. I'm guessing about 10-15rwhp + from the outgoing 1198.

Saw one in the flesh at the Sydney Motorcycle show on the weekend and have to say "very nice"
Rear shock set up is interesting.

The 1098R "only" made 165BHP and 125 NM torque on a SAE dyno - but that twin power.
It is a monster to ride and even the fast IL4's needed a decent straight to best it.

Do we really think an RC8 is comparable with the 1098 or indeed the allegedly more powerful better handling panigale??
If you check the WSB results.....oh hold on a sec..
RC8's look lovely but they aint comparable to the Ducatis IMHO , I aint no ducati fan by the way.
Had a test ride on one before i bought the BMW and hated the bike , that bloody dry clutch noise is awful.
I know a few peeps that have since put the RR's up for sale and ordered the new bike!! without even riding it , what can possibly be shit about it!
Hopefully the long tradition of Italian engineering will shine through

The 1199 is stunning. I just saw it at the show. It's the nicest design for a production superbike, ever. I was seriously impressed by it.
I liked it in the photos.. but in person it's just incredible.

Just saw it on display at the MC show in Long Beach...really nice looking bike but unfortunately not my cuppa any longer. Maybe as a track only bike.
Saw the race spec RC8R at the show as well and it looked good...really good. No way I could justify the expense ($20K USD) though for 2-3 trackdays a year.
Still hoping KTM do the right thing (the easy thing) and produce the new SD based on the 2012 RC8R. I cannot think of another bike I would want to own. Litteraly!
