What a couple of funny replies....

I would have to go with option F

I really have not been to many riding meets, I may do a group ride for autism in a few weeks, I will let you guys know then what folks are saying. But where I live folks are a slow with bike knowledge.

Also dont go to bike meets, but on ride out's around Linc's F + K and then you get the odd person thinking it's a Ducati because it's a Vtwin and it's called a SuperDuke
Occaisionally the odd beaten sports biker say's "fooking hell that goes well" and if i get beaten i say "what do you expect i've got no fairing"

Really doesn't matter what anyone thinks, cuz , I ride alone, don't want to show off, don't care if you 'go faster', drag harder, scrape your pegs, have a better lap time, good for you, so what, don't care,,,,I will go as fast as I want, when I want,, and just ride sensable and return unscathed, to polish lube, and admire on my own termes,, don't care if you don't like me bike,, as long as I do,, never had much fun riding in a group, you know there will always be someone thats having an electrical prob, a crash from showing off, someone that brought no money for the day and needs some for a pizza, gas ,butts,,,whatever, been there done that,, makes for a long day, and not a good days ride,, a group for me always turned into a race , a ticket, or roadrash for someone,,, and waiting to pay for a tow for that clown that brought no money along,, didn't even say thanks,,,

I've done both Maddog. Spent 15 years riding with the pack, young guys, everything to lose, being mad, falling off, taking girls for thrill rides, racing each other. Bikers pubs, being part of a fraterity, heavy metal bands, race meetings, Transatlantic trophy races. Bary Sheene. Terrible mechanical knowledge. The late 70's. 80's. Friends dying sometimes.

Then another fifteen riding solo, more or less. Just enjoying owning and fettling and riding bikes and doing what you say. Had more money to do this during this era. So the bikes were better and I changed as a biker into something else. More into the machinery, my ability, the Zen of motorcycling. Watching the technology evolve. Experiencing it. Reading the theory. Start to ride on track days, really start to learn about suspension and stuff. There's a lot more.

Then get on this forum and start to meet fellow bikers again. And go riding with them. And it's like a revelation. It's sort of good, you know. Yes, everyone breaks down sometimes. And you're not always in control of the pace and what you do. But it's a great feeling when you help out a fellow biker and especially 'cos you know they'd do it for you. But the feeling of being in a group of people that enjoy the same thing, and especially if they're all on SDs, is something that I've recently rediscovered and I can only say give it a go.

But I still pose the question what the riceburners think of a gang of the Superdukes?

Yeah-it does gather quite a bit of attention from the RR set. I have had a few heads snap around when going past me while I was sitting at stoplights, as well as some dude on a CBR catching up to me on the freeway to have a better look & throw me a thumbs up....haven't been to any bike nights, though. I work too late for that.

I got mine when I was 20

It's a shame; I don't think I'll be able to look back in years to come at my impressive history of bikes like some people because the list will probably stop at Superduke!

WOW cool Brizzy, awesome skills for certain, I can relate with all I have read in this thread, Maddog is a ballbuster, no problem-to each their own, I fall into a street rider category and the SD has got me more compliments from fellow riders than any bike thus far.

Not sure if it is all in my mind but it saddens me to think of abandoning my usual biking group, seems like they maybe going though "end life crisis"? Just too much hauling arse for joe, I don't want any more speeding tickets or broken bones, so I can see Maddogs view point.

On the other hand I really like the comradery that goes on in the group, I can't ride in the back cos they wave me to the front when we get to the twisties, it makes me feel good and somewhat substantial to get that sort of attention especially when i am able to put some distance between me and the pack.

the most common comment I get from people whom I know is, 'joe no one can ride one of those like you do' then I think if you only know about SD.net.

I have to admit, I miss the racing tuck, clip-ons and fairing, but realism falls on me and I am getting old, the SD fits the bill.
