Just gone past the 4 year membership mark (Joined:Mon Oct 15, 2007 12:17 am)! In that time seen members sadly lost, others move on, circumstances change and two recessions. I've gone from the SD to an SDR, had a few other bikes alongside her as well. One thing is constant, this is still one of the friendliest forums. "Vive le Superduke.net"

I must chime in. For a single make/model forum this one cannot be beat.

With previous rides I've been members of forums dedicated to GSXRs and K series BMWs and those aleays turned into self congratulatory drivel. There is none of that here, just good information and experience sharing. A breath of fresh air on the 'web'.

A round of applause to all the members !!!!

March of 07 here.

When I first joined I was pretty clueless (and some say still am...) but have gained much experience on so many levels, riding, mechanics etc, I remember DrF's post were knowlegable and funny, I went to his funeral even though I had never met him, there have been some memorable members JehadJoe with his posts I could never quite understand and dont know if I will ever reach his post count, BUZZ who modded his bike to the max in ten minutes and sold it just as fast then bought a S1000rr a promptly binned it.

Having met loads members of this forum every one has been a top bloke (and lass) and have some new friends and riding buddies to boot. When ever you try to explain this to any significant other they are like "your off to meet your friends from the internet" and make it sound like a homoerotic meet they just dont get it.

This forum has the best banter, best sense of humour and best information will members who are willing to help you out when ever possible, I dont even have an SD (working on it) but im still here because I enjoy it, the thing that sets this forum apart is the lack of nobjockeys/keyboard warriors and those that have reared their head have been shot down in flames in an instant.

Group hug.

I joined on the 5/10/09.. just 5 days before i picked up my bike... wow over two years... and she still has my hook line and sinker.

i always catch myself just staring upon the beauty of the 'Izzey'.. love the thing and she has never steered me wrong or let me down.... even after completely stuffing up a few corners here or there (once folding the edge of the front tyre), she always kept me true and got me out the other side. Wasnt anything i could have done about the car though.

I dont think i have ever loved something for more than two years however there is another addition now (grandfathers old merc) that i always look back at lovingly... maybe im changing or maybe they are just awesome.

and you guys on here have been great... when i knew nothing you all helped and steered my in the right direction (klink, bash, DP, jehadjoe, etc...)

now i hope that i can add the same as those guys have done for so long.

that and wherever you go... eveyone loves the superduke, they are niche and rare... 'nice bike' or 'that things awesome... looks like its out of transformers or something' are things that are others have said to me.

and are quite surprised how quick it can get round a corner (guys of SE QLD know how much of a weapon these things up Mt G).

great bike, great like minded people... people who could have gone the most powerful/fast but decided for something that is ludicrously fun, handles well and makes you want to do the stupidest things imaginable... been great guys... cheers

Wed Jul 26, 2006 - I'd owned my first SD for over a year by then.

How on earth did I cope?

4 and a half years and about 55000 miles on the old SD and SDR combined. Best road bike evar!

I feel a bit of a fraud saying that now she is up for sale, but I've made some great mates on here and had some of the best times of my life with em on rideouts and trips.

Hope it never ends!

I only joined in march 2009 but have found this forum incredibly friendly, useful, and entertaining. I've seen people come and go and seen advice that ranges from the humblingly expert to alarmingly poor. One of my biggest regrets is that I don't live in the UK where so many fans of the bike live. This is particularly ironic given that I am a Londoner Instead, I live in a fantastic country with fantastic roads and fantastic weather but never get to see another SD owner. My impression is that there is about one active SD owner for every 1000km radius here in Oz. One day I'd really like to get together and have a ride-out or at least a beer or two with the UK folks (and for that matter anyone else in the world). Wouldn't it be fantastic if KTM or somebody organised a world-wide SD rally for members in somewhere like Spain... Somewhere there is a thread with photographs of what of some of the members look like (I cant find it) but perhaps it could be resurrected.

Today! LOL
But I have been luking for a few weeks while buying my SDR. During the 2nd great depression I had to sell 1 bike so I put my KTM 250 XC-F and my 2006 GSXR1000 up for sale and the response I got from both the ad's is the same difference between most forums and this one. Stupid ass lowballers vs intelligent, informed questions

Grendel has joined this lusty companionship in may of 2007. He has enjoyed all. He misses Joe, who checks in periodically and now posts less than Grendel. Grendel tries to only post when it adds value. He is as old as the hills and tends to sit back and watch the antics. knowing full well how it will go. But ultimately he loves his brethren here.

Had my bike for a year before I found the forum.
Never been much for modding bikes, prefering to keep them pretty much standard.
But thanks to all the helpful folk here it gave me the knowledge and courage to give it all a go.
As a noob here it can look like a bit of a UK lovefest but you soon realise that there have been good relationships formed thanks to the forum and that most are more than willing to help out.
I can see myself having other bikes but think this will be a keeper, after 2.5 years of ownership it still makes me smile everytime.

Actually joined April 2010. Six months after collecting my 2010 model SDR which is my first ever bike since the FSIE back in '77. Yeah yeah I've heard it all before... I short listed the SDR among the Seed Trip and the Ducati Monster then did lots of research before committing, and that research bought me here some six months before I put down the deposit. I still blame you all for this twofold addiction 1. The bike and 2. That I find myself checking in here everytime I get on line. Love it and thanks. Some addictions just don't need an intervention eh. Davo

If it wasn't for this forum I doubt if I would have bought a Super Duke as I had no Idea what to expect from KTM. I knew nothing about these bikes but before I purchased one I was on this forum for about 3 weeks before the big day So I knew what to expect on the test ride. The funny thing is on the test ride I nearly got cleaned up buy a car who made a emergency change of lanes as I was coming up beside him. I got out of the way real quick and changed undies.
I am so glade for this forum so much knowledge on here and a big thanks to all.
You guys are so passionate about the SD so much so that if I sent MrZ a email he would phone me just to help.
Also thanks ktmguy your a champ also.

October 30, 2009. A few days after I got my 2008 left over SD.
Was googling for some info and found this treasure chest.
All up nice people here willing to help and share info!
Also peeps here like a laugh and always ready to take the piss without holding a grudge!

Unfortunately moving to Townsville in OZ has spoiled it for me and the SD. Since there are only straight roads here and cops everywhere I'm bored to death with it.
It's more fun riding the Husky TE450 to work than the SD.
Can't sell it as I always wanted one and it is not the bikes fault. Neet to go 300km to Cairns to find a winding road or go to Brissy for a trackday. (probably get turned down due to Mivv's to loud).
It was almost easier to leave the SD in NZ and fly there for the weekend.
Sorry ... rant over.

Heres my story...

Was heading over the ranges toward malaney on my new duke and this orange flash came the other way... was that a duke

I turned left on to a nice strech of road and a headlight comes shooting up behind me... it was a duke

Opened the duke up and had some fun through the twisties being chased by the orange monster...

by this point i had only had the duke a month or 2.. and was passed on a corner.....

the new duke stopped and introduced himself and told me to join superduke.net

that was MrZ32...
