There's a mileage thread here somewhere with some big miles on but worth noting that KTM do the Paris Dakar with this engine which I'd say is a pretty good test.

I don't know about Europe but in the US you get a lot of guys with money that "Have to have the newest bike" that was the SD - they buy them and trick them out with lots of goodies and rarely ride them - Ducati's were and are still a special treat for those poseaurs - it's our lucky break - if you can find one used with all the "bling" on it by someone else and can verify it's not been abused it's your gain and their loss -

I've learned over the years at least in the US we have lots of wankers and few really capable riders that want to get out and use their bikes - too many are interested in being law abiding citizens and they ride Harley's for the most part - I'm thrilled with so few SD's makes ours feel special

If I didn't have to trade off a used bike I would have found a good used one and saved thousands of dollars over buying new - done it lots of times and never regretted it - but that was before the world new "stunters" too - so now we have to be extremely wary

I've noticed that too.
Seem to be swapped as often as some folks kecks.

I've got 9000 miles on mine since August, looking to put on at least another 5 before August comes around again.
Wee Scottish tour and then Nurburgring, Swiss Alps, Paris and home via Wales and mates in England in July.
Commuted all weathers on mine through the winter, seems to have held up reasonably well, although I am in discussion with the Dealer about a warranty issue of some importance at the minute.
They replaced the fork seal no problems, and are waiting for an oil switch to get replaced under warranty too.
Have had to replace the chain already mind you...
Do think that was more to do with the Scottoiler knocking it off the sprockets than any fault of KTM though.

IMO, it's because of the fueling and snatchy throttle, to get these bikes to run safely you have to spend £1,600,

Akro,s
PC3
Dyno Time
G2 Throttle cam

Then is an absolute beast of a bike, love it
