Funnily enough, despite a life of small jap screamers (bikes, not women) and the Blade, short shifting is my more normal riding style rather than chasing revs. The SD suits me fine in that respect and I've quickly got used to leaving the down shifting later to avoid "incidents".
The SD is a stocker 07 (black - I deliberately bought a slow one so that everyone has more time to admire it going past looking better than anything else and wondering what it is) with a few carbon tart parts put on by the previous owner.
Having had my doubts about the power (no wheelies off the throttle, running out of puff a lot earlier than expected) got it Dynoed and got 93BHP, 62FT/LB and a massively rich AFR - 10.5 for anything over 5500 RPM.
The suggested cure is a Power Commander - but will it really make that much of a difference? I'm not after an improvement over stock but I'd like to get the horses I paid for! Based on what I can find, a stocker should be punting out around 115BHP so the current performance now makes sense when I look back through old road tests etc. I don't get the impression KTM "pampered" their press bikes and reading the forum seems to back that up.
Thoughts?
