From a 450 EXC to a 990 SD!

I recently picked up a friend's '07 for a song, and I'm loving it so far. Now I can stop abusing my poor RFS motard! Lots of great info here about this fantastic bike, thanks to everyone who contributes.
I need to address a skittish front end, which is hopefully due to the fact that I have not set up the suspension yet. The front feels jumpy and kind of stutters over bumps when turning. I think I will remove the drag bars on put the stock bars back on. Anyone using a steering damper, or feel that there's a need for one? Also need to figure out something different for the mirrors and turn signals, and get the ECU properly mapped for the Leo Vince cans.

Other than that, love this thing! What a wheelie monster!

COngrats for the upgrade ehehe

Wha front end is that? Did the previous owner had a crash or just changed to be different and gave you the original parts?

I have all the original parts- he just wanted it to look more naked than it already does.. I believe he purchased the whole kit from this place:

I like the front end but the straight bar needs to go. I will let you guys know if I decide to sell or trade it off. I am located outside of Seattle. Thanks for the welcome, I plan on owning this bike for a long time and it's great to have a resource like this site!

Welcome to SuperDuke. Cool site with M8's from around the world.
Saw your post with beer ad in back ground, Full Sail Ale and Mt Hood logo. Duff.. Thats my stomping grounds
I am south of Portland near Corvallis. I got the same mirrors, unless those are rip offs. They are small but work for me but I live in the sticks and don't do much city driving. You will have no trouble selling thos on this site. Big money.
I have a damper and it is mounted down under.
You will like the stock bars. It will give you power stearing and you might not need the damper.
Other KTM bars to consider are from Adventure, SE and SM.

Enjoy the bike and site. I will keep an eye out for your headlight. Might be passing thru North Castcades Hwy 20 loop end of this month (July).

Cheers!

Hey DougFir,

That pic was taken off of High Bridge road near Redmond, Wa. Thanks for the welcome, Highway 20 is one of my favorites but I also love the Mt. St. Helens area roads. Give me a holler on email (forest(dot)hoag@gmail(dot)com) if you are planning a ride nearby. We are lucky to have the kind of riding we do around here! Now that I've gotten used to these mirrors, I actually really like them, and the stock bar is where its at! Bike handles great now.

I'm making an appointment at the local Dyno tuner to remap after I do the SAS block-off. My only complaint about the bike now is the herky jerky throttle, can't wait to get it sorted and go storm NF25 to Windy Ridge.

Cheers!
