Hello All,

I am the proud owner of a 2008 SD with Akras and a map.

Saucy.

Last bike was a 2004 Speed Triple. Unfortunately I had a serious off and totalled it. Broke my kneecap into four pieces at the same time.

I don't heal as well as I did last time I crashed, but that was 25 years ago. Just getting back into it now.

Well, i've had some luck, my back orders have come in so my countershaft and mainshaft are assembled ready to go, i discovered i missed one bearing, for the starter shaft, so i need that but i put the bite on my dealer (whom i have bought all my genuine rebuild parts from) for a warranty starter gear kit and it arrived today as well, so i fit the stator to the new case, RESULT!
I'm going to take some pics tomorrow before i get it together so i'll have to figure out how to post them i guess, sorry i haven't done it before now, but it's been slow going, i'm not game to pull the bike apart any further until the motor is together, still waiting for the bottom end to return from the balancers too.

paul.

cheers bert, my swingarm is stripped, as is my subframe, those and the engine brackets are going to be powdercoated satin black. the bottom end is finally back from the balancers and i must say i was surprised at how much it took to balance it, there's metal removed AND added to the webbing of the crankshaft, not sure why, but they balanced my 888 and it's super smooth so this one should be the same i hope. i've made an engine stand to support it once done and i'll be able to fit the frame to the engine and add to it as the rebuild progresses. I'll take some more pics soon but there's very little to see at the moment, i'm still cleaning parts, the bike was a mess but it's cleaning up nicely, just very time consuming!

Hi all,

Finally getting around to introducing myself... bit slack I know.

Been riding since I was a kid (40 now). A bunch of trailies, RGV250, CBR250, ZX7R, VTR1000, CBR1000, SP1, Daytona 675... to name a few. Currently ride a F700GS for work.

Picked up my '08 SD from a car dealer in Melbourne. Long story but basically a guy with more money than he know what to do with needed some garage space for a new car and couldn't be arsed selling it himself so traded it in. The car dealer had no idea what it was worth so sold it to me for $10K. It had 9K on the clock, fresh rubber and not a scratch. A bargain here in Oz.

The SD was stock when I got it. I've done most of the essentials. MH airbox, SAS removal, O2 sensor eliminated, 16T front sproket, Akra2 map and my latest purchase, some Remus hexacones. A few cosmetics including Rizoma indicators, barend mirrors, carbon heal guards and a new EvoTech tail tidy is going on this afternoon.

Hands down this is the best bike I've ever owned. I'm so in love with it. I commute, track and tour on it. Love love LOVE it!

This forum is awesome. Every mod I've made has been as a result on the threads on here. I'm a bit of a mechanical spastic but I've managed to solve every problem/query I've come across just by reading the existing posts. Thanks heaps to the Admin... awesome job.

Cheers,
Geoff
