Greetings from Colorado!

So, I stumbled into a deal on what I believe is a rare bird... 2006 SD, originally owned by a KTM rep for a short period, then returned to dealership and purchased, single owner since then. ~2900 original miles. So, I'm told (and believe) this thing's a euro-spec SD, but not sure how else to tell. The headlight is definitely the two-bulb which is the euro-spec from my research.

Also came with:
FMF Apex exhaust (I believe? no badges) + remap
Scotts steering damper (not installed yet)
KTM Stealth rear sprocket (not installed yet)
Sueded seat (not installed)
2nd set of rear plastics (black)
2nd SD gas tank (black) - unclear which year, MAYBE a year newer or two with larger capacity? fingers crossed, haven't looked up part yet
2nd set of side plastics (Orange w/ black writing)
2x spare front headlight shrouds (orange/black and black)
2x spare rearsets
Ermax windscreen (will probably be replaced)
MotoHooligan intake (not installed yet)
MotoHooilgan heel guard (installed now)
KTM tank bag

In the coming weeks I plan on installing the MotoHooligan intake and Scotts steering damper, along with swapping colors around to go mostly black. And naturally, make my SV650 jealous Anyway, I've been lurking on here for a few weeks while I waited for the deal to close, and I'm happy to join the group!

Welcome to the forum mate.
Awesome to get a bike with that many spares.
How much did it set you back if you don't mind me asking?

Welcome,

If your second tank is small and your looking for a big one let me know.
I'll trade you my '08 tank for your small '06 tank

Welcome. I too purchased a low miles 06 SD in Colorado a few years ago. Mine was impounded while being ridden by a Canadian with no MC license as the story goes.

I picked up the whole kit for ~5k USD, so with the added value from the extra parts and that low of mileage I'm pretty OK with it. Seems to be a little below what they're going for here and there, and definitely less than others in the region.

@willh, are you looking for a small orange or black? and what color is yours? Assuming both are small I'd have either available I suppose! The additional range is very appealing to me.

I'm guessing I can validate what I have simply by checking the part numbers on each, which is my plan going forward, but beyond this I'm VERY new to KTM so if there's a better method...

Either will do me as it's the small size I'm after.

The tanks are visibly different, most notably behind the filler.

Post up a picture of your spare tank and I'll tell you what you have.

My stock '08 tank is the standard '08 tank color wich I would describe as a semi-gloss metallic gray/ black.

I'll take that windscreen if you don't want it.

Sounds like a pretty good deal. Don't know what they were thinking with the traffic cone color scheme, but who cares, awesome friggin bike. I'm just a few miles shy of 30k and going strong.

With the age of that machine I would go ahead and replace the fuel filter unless it's already been done recently. The older SD's also can have issues with the starter back torque limiter, lotsa noise on startup, you'll know it. Ktmtwins.com sells the full upgraded kit to fix it. The other possible issues are pretty much the normal ones all the SD models have, oil sight tube, BGC, R/R, relentless wheelies...

@willh - tried sending you PM, keep getting error that you don't exist for some reason... maybe I just don't understand the forum software yet Anyway, both tanks are 2006 so I'd be down to pull the orange and swap with you. Hit me up with PM if you can, or drop me an email. [email protected]

There was a first creation that popped up on the radar some six to nine months ago. It had extensive sun damage from sitting on a porch for a few spells.
They are a rare breed indeed and if treated well will probably fetch some extra dollars in the future.
Canada got the first ones and there were a few that came in from the grey market. They were not warranted through kTM and KTM made a big stink about the introduction into America via The Maple leaf trail.
There is one in Atlanta and a few in Ca. and a few in Washington state.
I have always been intrigued with them and wish that someday I will get a chance to ride the real McCoy.
You have a winner and this site will set well with the far away troopers have much insight into what makes the first iteration tick well.
Good find. Great bike. Dont rub in that your bike has the faster gas tank, steering, and fuel pump disintigration.
