PERKELE!

And hello to all you "finnish language challenged" SD-people.

I've been reading this forum for a while, and finally registered.

I own a black '06 with akras and some other bits of kit. Oh, and with a bad battery

The weather is pretty good for this time of the year here in Finland, so let's keep the mileage running, shall we?

WROOOM!

I used to say that also. A year ago. Last year in middle of May people were out only in their t-shirts in south, but in north there was a metre snow. Now, in March, same as last May.
Well, it can be earth's cycle or it don't be.. Unfortunately there seems to be connection between CO2 pollution and warming. We'll know much better in ten years was the warming caused by pollution. And then it might be too late to do anything for it.

If and when we'll speak of CO2, do not blame traffic, because at the moment traffic makes only 13% of that pollution globally. The biggest reason is farming, second factories.

Hi!

Decided to join the forums after few months browsing. I bought my first SD 2011 at January and I'm currently for the shop to deliver the new one for me. Previous ride was Kawasaki z750 for last few years so I'm waiting a quite big change for the power and handling of the bike.

Hi! I am a male person from south Finland and i have ordered a new 1290 with full akra and almost all Powerparts to it. My KTM hobby started in 2007 when i bought 450Exc supermoto and i also had a Suzuki TL1000r at the same time witch i chanced to 09 RC8. Exc supermoto tyres had to go and exc has been in iceroad racing use only winters and rc8 on the road in summer times. Last summer i went to a local KTM dealer to check out the new 1190 Adventure and i had to try that bike. Well i chanced the RC8 to the adventure and it seemed to be a nice bike for the road use compaired to the RC8. But it just did'nt have the balls of an RC8 so i called to another KTM dealer here in Finland and they took my 1190 in and chanced in to a black 1290 superduke.
I have allways had the need to go flat out with motorcycle from time to time. I dont know why.

If the 1290 is half as much fun as the 990 you will have a hell of a bike. I'd imagine it's as much fun and then some!

Welcome!

How is driving in Finland, you got loads of twisties and nice roads?
Sarasota_Steve

Sarasota_Steve

We've got quite a short summer here as the proper riding season starts at the beginning half of May and ends around the end of september. June, July and August being the proper good riding months as they are really warm. But a true motorist rides whenever the roads are not frozen (in between beginning of April and the halfway-end of October -ish)

There are plenty of twisties and nice roads to go rip. Some might even have a good, solid asphalt with no splits and cracks. It's the ground frost that cracks the road surfaces on regular basis every year. Thus, some of the roads are in terrible condition.

Hello everybody!
I just traded my 35000 km 2012 Honda CB1000R for the new Super Duke two weeks ago...
Hopefully I will get as much fun and problem-free kilometers with it as I did with the Honda!
After 2200 km with the SD, it's all great! Don't know how I can wait over the long and dark wintertime to get riding again...
Maybe doing some mods will help..? At least something has to be done to the exhaust, after my Honda, you have to check the tacho is it running!

Hello and welcome.

I mostly understand your avatar insofar as you've had your clavical pinned. What's the row of little circular things? It looks like a pipe with metal reinforcing in it. A drain?

Regarding the winter - just remember the sun will always shine again
Sarasota_Steve

Sarasota_Steve

Welcome! Few Finns already here.
Did same early spring traded CB1000R -12 to SDR. Honda is... Honda. Runs smooth no problems but bit boring. Weak suspension and breaks. Safety first bike
SDR sure you will meet some issues and drama. Think nature of this bike. But never get bored. Decat, sas off, akra map or pcv and some suspension setting then you'll have more excitement

Thank You all for warm welcome! I already feel like home...

Yes, the fuelling and exhaust will be my main aims for the winter mods... I wouldn't like to install PCV as I had to do with my Honda, I'm hoping to get the standard ECU adjusted... Hopefully that will be possible to do, at least at some point!

I'm actually still considering the various exhaust possibilities and hoping more alternatives will appear during wintertime... So far, there are only couple options that do IT for me..

Hi,

Month ago i joined the KTM club. I changed my 2003 ZX-6R to Super duke 990 -12. The bike were like new, not any mods done.

Already got the cables to play with ecu and changed the smoothened -program. I read the official TuneEcu and map topics and got lot of information. Cheers for that!

Just got another stock slip-on and i will remove the cat and do a bit of modifications. Let see is it good or do i have to buy aftermarket exhaust (havent found one i like, price and looks).

Planning to buy motobox and tune the bike when i can afford. Found a tuner from my area who can tune by TuneEcu!

Br,
Jouni

Hello!

First of all, great to be here. I have been reading this forum for a while and i decided that this is the place where i wanna share my KTM things to other people! I have KTM 1290 Super Duke R 2015, i bought it in june and i just love it!

SDR is the third motorcycle that I bought. The first was the Kawasaki ER-6n 2007 , the second was the Suzuki GSX-R 1000 K8. Summer is short and rainy here in Finland , but I would not let it bother my hobbies!

Here's my bike:

Hello again!

It's been long time since i have visited here the last time. Great to see that things have not changed around here. I had some rough time with my SDR just 3weeks ago. I totalled the bike, but i got only couple bruises and really annoying back pain. I'm glad that my insurance-company worked everything really well and fast. So, now i'm waiting to get my new bike from the dealer. I'm gonna buy one of the demo-bikes from the same dealer that i bought my other SDR. I'm aiming for the 2017 Super Duke R. I will hit you guys with a picture and details of the bike when i get it home.

Cheers,

-Kotari-

So, here is my new SDR:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/gn5sv4nmzku7m ... 8.jpg?dl=0

https://www.dropbox.com/s/1oo2nqbtrqi3b ... 4.jpg?dl=0

Here's a list what parts i have for it:

Already installed KTM tail tidy, tank cover stickers, decail-kit, Track-pack and performance-pack. I made a deal with insurance-company that i can keep all my power parts etc from the old bike. Sooo, i also have Rottweiler intake + sas-removal + Power commander V + autotune AT300 + power part ergo seats + MIVV exhaust silencer waiting for install.

I think 2015 SDR does have little bit different de-cat than this 2017? I have Bodis racing de-cat but i'm pretty sure i have to buy a new one for this little beast right here.

What do you think should i have Akrapovic-map installed to the ecu or just get my Power commander adjusted by local dynojet-dude if i hit my intake kit etc to the bike?
