I've been viewing this site now for several weeks. I came across it when I was doing research for my next bike. The Superduke was in contention against other bikes that I was looking at. Well, long story short, I found a killer deal on a 2008 Superduke R that's got a little story behind it.
So, I'm scouring the net looking at Ducati Streetfighters, Kawasaki's new Z1000 etc and I found this Superduke R out in Cali sitting on the showroom floor trying to figure out why it had 2010 (For USA) body work but was listed as a 2008. I called the dealer and the rest is history. I am having it shipped to my home here in Georgia. It's been about 4 weeks now since the paperwork was done. I'm extremely excited as the shipping company will be delivering the bike on Tuesday of this week. Awesome!
The bike I bought has a little history. As I was told, KTM was going to bring the 2010 SuperDuke R to the USA but didn't have any here in the states to bring to a dealer event at Laguna Seca Raceway in California. Being that there is absolutely no mechanical difference between the 2008 and 2010 models, they took two brand new 2008 SuperDuke Rs and clad them with 2010 bodywork. After the dealer event, the shop I eventually purchased the bike from scooped both of them up. KTM then decided NOT to bring the Superduke R to the USA for 2010. So, what I have here is kinda rare I suppose!
This bike is going to pair nicely with my 2006 Triumph Speed Triple. I plan on installing the Moto Hooligan airbox, FMF pipes and a power commander III. Then I'll bring the bike to a local performance shop (we have lots of those in those in this part of the country) and get a custom map built for it.
I look forward to being a participating member of this forum as i find that the information here is quite useful. What a great site.
Here's a couple of pics as it sat on the floor in the showroom in California.
