Hey all, jay from co. kerry in Ireland! Picked up a Superduke at the weekend and sold my Benelli Tornado. Had my eye on a Superduke for a while now and well happy with it. Standard apart from crash bungs, a tank cover, heated grips and handguards. Had a terrible start with it as had a low speed spill sunday due to a crap front tyre. The lad i bought it off had these ancient bloody Pirelli's on it and the front washed out at very low speed. Gonna put an ad in the wanted section soon to see can i get a side panel and clock surround. In the meantime i picked up a new set of Rosso 11's to put on. Looking forward to chatting...great site

Welcome mate. You will love this bike! V twins are the best engine by a long way, have you come from in line fours? If so don't expect turbine smoothness, just enjoy the torque instead. Nearly everything you will want to do or problems you might come up against have been experienced by this forum so there is always an answer for you.

Hi all.My first post here.Hoping to pick up a 1290 SDR in the coming weeks/months.
Could one of you lucky owners do a new member a favour please?Could you measure the width of the bars as Id be keeping her inhouse:).

Welcome comrade murphc13: Nice to see a bloke that's got the right idea about where the bike should be. My ex kicked up about it being in the bedroom so I had to get rid of her

Now the bars are 780mm wide but the mirrors are 910 wide with my arrangement. Don't forget though that 780mm is not the smallest door frame you can get a bike through. Every one is different but it is possible to turn the bars through a narrower door frame provided you have plenty of space on both sides of the frame and that the frame is not up against a wall. So if you are lucky you'll be able to get it into the bedroom ...

Welcome aboard and enjoy the madness.

Welcome.

Lucky you - keeping your beast in the house. I used to keep my Suzuki GT185 in the dining room years ago and would regularly fill the house with 2 stroke and ride her in and out the front door - the joys of renting are now behind me and now all I'm allowed in the house is a shiny clean bicycle!!

Enjoy your new ride..

Hi all, glad to become a member of the club!

My old LC4 supermoto was getting on a bit, so I looked for a change. Was considering a brand new 690 SMC but I stumbled upon a clean 2006 SD990 (2007 plate) with 24,000km and well, here I am.

Standard trim SD with MIVV cans, powerparts seat, R&G sliders and some small bling bits. Water pump built at 20k. After I bought it I've taken out the dB killers, orange anodised levers, evotech tail tidy, oberon slave upgrade, new Dunlop Qualifiers and I'm probably missing other bits. It's not immaculate as I'm more of a ride the piss of it guy than clean and polish every ride guy. I've done my best to clean it for a few pics.

What a machine! I've tried all types of bikes and I think the SD is the perfect cross of sportbike and naked/SM. I can't believe how easy it wheelies

Enough blabber, here she is! I hope links are okay.
Cheers, -Tom

Welcome in Tom!

Keep an eye on the brakes, if I recall correctly there are some corrosion issues that can cause them to lock up pretty easily on the 06 model.
