Just wanted to say hello. Retired to the Arkansas Ozarks a couple years ago because of the terrific roads, both in riding quality and condition...live 3 miles from The Devil's Backbone and 39 miles from Push Mountain Road. Sold the Goldwing in January and have been performing due diligence for the correct replacement. Touring never really appealed to me, have done the iron butt thing, the wife doesn't like to ride and I miss the feel of a bike that really performs...great suspension, light weight, decent power...I've left enough notes, and I'm not on any naughty lists...thinking Santa might bring me a SD-R.
My last KTM....1982 KTM 495...Barstow To Vegas 1983

Welcome.....should be the ideal bike ...or maybe put Supermoto wheels on a 495....now that would be fun
There are a few nice used SDR's for sale right now,,,,,,,,,,buy,,buy...buy,,,
Welcome dude...
You won't regret bying an S.D. or SDR...
I've never had so much fun...
Get 'er done..!!!
Don't wait for Christmas..
Santa's dead ya know...
Thanks guys...

Yes, the idea of attaching supermoto wheels to a 495 has crossed my mind, lord knows the stock brakes were HORRIBLE at best...but the Motor was FANTASTIC!

Have been looking at the ads, visited a dealer with a std. SD to check out ergonomics and even contacted one of the sellers of an R, but sometimes you just have to wait for matters at hand to clear before moving forward...as tough as it is to see one sell "just" before you can say "I'll take it." If these go to new owners, there will be others come along, or there is always a Tuono!!

Attaching a link for some very good riding...for those that may be looking for something besides straights and sweepers.

Welcome on board
Welcome on board Larry, good luck finding "the one"
Good to see that you have AR hwy 9 in your linked list of rides. Much tighter and more fun than Push for the SD. I’m in Memphis and make it over there every couple months with a group I ride with. Though right now I’m still healing my collarbone. . .
Maybe we will meet up some time.
Sorry to hear about your collarbone, but "stuff" happens in life. AR Hwy 9 (The Devil's Backbone) is 3 miles from my driveway...yeah, I like it much better than Push Mountain also, but glad all the hype goes to Push Mountain...keeps all the line crossing Harley riders away from such a great road.

Is there a decent dealer in Memphis? Have an old racing buddy that owns Northland Motorsports and Star Island Motorsports in Arizona, but 1400 miles is a long way to go for a tune up...and NO, he can't even get me a 2012 SD-R.... The Arkansas dealers seem to be off-road shops only.

Hope to hook up with you someday. Heal fast.

Welcome. The first fun road I experienced on my SD was the Pig Trail while bringing the new machine home to Virginia from Denver. Unfortunately it was raining with no chance of dry pavement. But it must be a nice place to live, similar to the mountains where I grew up in VA.
Yup...just another day in paradise!!
Okay....finally pulled the trigger on a SD-R.
BAM hang on
THANKS SANTA!!!!!!
Pics or it didn't happen.
OK OK....these are pictures taken by previous owner as I just got home with it today and it's raining.

Ahh, from Colorado. That's where my first SD came from. I hope you rode it home, those are the precious moments!
