QuietRider
Hi All,
I recently moved from an '07 GSXR 750 (on which I did 110,000 fun miles) to an '08 Super Duke. I have put almost 4,000 miles on the SD so far getting well acquainted with it and doing a 1,500 mile 5 day ride with my fast friends in the northern Sierra. The SD is my first twin and it takes a bit to adapt to the character of this motor. The bike handles so great it's spooky - I think it is reading my mind.
I mostly like to ride the twisty back roads. We have lots of these in California, but in recent years the road maintenance in this state has declined and these roads are getting very bumpy and often pot-holed. So I had to spend some time refining suspension settings to get the bike working right on this kind of pavement, but it's super now.
Bike was pretty much stock when I got it and I found the throttle snatch annoying on our bumpy back roads. My first mod was to install the RC8 progressive throttle cam which pretty much solved the problem. Now it's good on the low end but too slow opening on the high end so I will probably modify it to be quicker getting to wide open.
Thanks to all who post tips about their bikes on SD.net - it is so much help to a newbie owner.
Roger
