Just purchased a 2008 Superduke 990R from a dealer in Grand Rapids and had it shipped to Boston.

and I've done my first track day ever. holy shit!! this bike has some surging issues

New bike there are way's to rid it of surging issues,,the "R" is known to be a bit worse than the standard SD,,,mine was cured with the Akra download and a G2 .50 cam throttle tube,,and I expect it to get better with Hooligan airbox and SAS removal,,,,"tune ECU" and a proper map would cure all,,,, nice bike,,,,

The bike isn't new, but it only had 4,000 miles on it. I'm only guessing, but the surging problems may have gotten in the way of the previous owner enjoying the bike? Anyway, the bike is getting the akro map and motohooligan airbox. I'll change out the throttle tube as well... thanks
